Trying to move on after loss, it feels endless and meandering. How do you navigate? How do you move on?
I started this piece shortly before a loved one got sick in early 2023 and stopped once it progressed so far they needed constant appointments and monitoring. After they were gone? Left abandoned just like my studio space for a year.
This piece originally had a sense of direction daresay a return to making art after having stopped after college burnout. Memory is fickle, it felt like it had been a celebration of being able to create again, but since I had stopped it had lost all meaning. Trying to pick the pieces all back together felt wrong and impossible. I was a shell of who I had been not only trying to put this piece back together, but trying to heal all that had cracked and shattered within me.
